Havering’s Parents in Partnership information, advice and support service (see www.haveringfsd.co.uk ) provide support to parents of children and young people (up to 25 years of age) with special educational needs (SEN), as well as children and young people themselves with SEND. We provide a free, impartial, confidential, information, advice and support service that operates at "arm’s length" from the Local Authority. Part of this service is to offer training and we recently commissioned Amanda to undertake a series of training sessions designed for parents of children with Autism. Amanda is able to connect with the parents on a very genuine level using real life experience to explore challenging and emotional issues. The sessions are always oversubscribed and we can report that we receive 100% positive feedback from our parents, all of whom ask when the next session will be?
